Nationally-Ranked Storm Upend Prairie Wolves

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 12, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to No. 5 Simpson College, 94-54, in Snyder Arena. It was NWU's second consecutive game against a team nationally ranked 15 or higher.

Nebraska Wesleyan looked like it would give Simpson its first conference loss of the season. After a quick start by the Storm, the Prairie Wolves countered with 9-3 run to make it a one possession game. NWU's defense aided the run as it held SC to shoot just 1-for-5 from the field and no three-pointers.

The Storm was able to calm Nebraska Wesleyan with a 12-3 run and outscored them 25-10 in the second quarter. SC shot 51.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point arc for the game. Both were the highest by an NWU opponent this season.

Anna Vandenack finished with 15 points and a team-high five rebounds. Vandenack has scored in double digits in back-to-back games and the sixth time in the last seven games. Brianna Denton scored 12 points off the bench for the Prairie Wolves. It is the second-highest scoring output of the season for both Vandenack and Denton. Delaney Roberts tallied six assists, the second-most assists by Roberts in a game this season.
