LINCOLN, Neb. (January 15, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to Loras, 76-60, in Snyder Arena.
Delaney Roberts carried Nebraska Wesleyan with 31 points, the most by a Prairie Wolf since Caitlin Navratil netted 40 points on January 3, 2019, against Loras.
A hot-shooting Duhawks team pulled away from the Prairie Wolves in the fourth quarter. LC went 5-for-12 from behind the arc in the final quarter. Loras needed to get hot in the fourth quarter after an NWU run gave them the lead with 3:38 left in the third quarter.Â
The 7-0 run in the third quarter allowed NWU to take the lead at 37-35. The rally was started with a pair of free throws by Delaney Roberts. Roberts then stole a pass and made a lay-up, capped off with a successful free-throw after getting fouled on the shot. The next possession, Sarah Hultquist found Anna Vandenack in the paint for the go-ahead basket. However, Loras answered with a 16-4 run to end the quarter.
The Prairie Wolves battled the Duhawks in the first half. After Loras scored the game's first basket, NWU answered with six consecutive points for an early lead then stretched the lead to 10-4 just under five minutes in the quarter. The Duhawks countered with a run of their own and held a 17-12 lead heading into the second quarter. LC then took a three-point advantage into the halftime break.
Delaney Roberts finished the game 8-for-10 from the field, 4-for-6 from the three-point arc, and 11-for-13 at the free-throw stripe. In the first half, Roberts was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including hitting all three three-pointers.Â
Rhett Partridge tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, both career-bests for Partridge. Additionally, Avery Halliday had a season-best six rebounds for Nebraska Wesleyan.Â
