Prairie Wolves Play Defenders To Draw


LINCOLN, Neb. (September 8, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer tied with Dordt University, 1-1, at Abel Stadium. 

The Defenders struck first in the match with a goal in the 14th minute but the Prairie Wolves responded just 15 minute later. Jakob Hulquest drilled the equalizer in the 29th minute off of a pass from Kyle Hansen. For Hulquest, it was his first goal of the season as well as the first assist of the year for Hansen.

NWU continued an aggressive attack in the second half, out shooting DU, 4-1, in the frame and, 3-1, in the two 10-minute overtime periods. Over the 110 minutes, Nebraska Wesleyan outshot Dordt, 13-1, with a, 6-3, advantage on shots on goal. However, the Prairie Wolves could not land the game-winner.

Jacob Caffey, Jackson McCowan, Brandon Harper, and Alex Koehler each tallied two shots in the match for NWU. Zach Selph and Zach Weis combined for two saves.
