Central Cools Down NWU, Ends Winning Streak

PELLA, Iowa (September 18, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan football had its two game-winning streak ended by Central College, 37-7, in Pella, Iowa.

Defensively, NWU kept Central well below their scoring averaging. Coming into the game, the Dutch were the highest scoring offense in the conference with 57.5 points per game. The Prairie Wolves limited Central to just 50 percent in the red zone. Prior to today, the Dutch were a perfect 11-for-11 in the red zone. Central also averaged 380 passing yards heading into today's match-up but only got 206 yards on the Nebraska Wesleyan defense.

On the defensive side of the ball, Max Brinker made 15 tackles, the most by a Prairie Wolf this season. Kaden Dawe recorded 12 tackles, including three solos stops. Additionally, NWU had seven players make six or more tackles.

The Dutch found a way to cool down one of the American Rivers Conference's best passing offenses. NWU was held in check with just 172 yards through the air. It is the first time this season, the Prairie Wolves have been held below 290 passing yards.

Kevin Tims led the offense with seven receptions for 96 yards and a score. The touchdown reception came on a 46-yard strike from Carter Terry. On the afternoon, Terry was 17-for-38 for 172 yards. Tims was one of five NWU receivers to record at least two receptions from Terry in the game.
