Game One Recap
Nebraska Wesleyan's Kailey Meyer hit a two-out single down the left field line to score Hanna Roth from second base in the top of the ninth inning. The Prairie Wolves forced BVU into back-to-back flyouts before stranding the tying run at first base on a pop-up to Taylor Styskal at first base.
Down to its last out in the top of the seventh inning, NWU found life when an error allowed, pinch hitter, Rachel Mundt to reach first base. After Mollie Grant entered the game as a pinch runner, Hanna Roth drew a walk. With Grant and Roth on base, Buena Vista committed its second error in the inning, which allowed Emma Alfieri to reach base and Grant to score from second base. Styskal drew a walk to load the bases in the next at-bat prior to BVU escaping the inning on a strikeout.Â
After five and a half scoreless inning, the Beavers plated the game's first run on an error after they hit a triple. NWU responded by retiring the next three batters then tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. Meyer and Bailey Green combined to allow one unearned run with only two walks over nine innings. The win snapped Nebraska Wesleyan's four-game losing skid.
