LINCOLN, Neb. (April 25, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team (10-16, 8-10 A-R-C) fell to Simpson College (12-14, 9-9 A-R-C), in the series finale, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at University Place in Lincoln. 

The Storm took the lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. NWU answered back in the bottom of the third inning when Kailey Meyer hit a single to plate Emma Alfieri. But SC pushed the lead back to a two-run advantage with a run in the fifth inning.

The Prairie Wolves attempted a comeback in the sixth inning when Meyer led off the inning with a double. Alycin Braun, the next batter, used a single to put runners on the corners. Meyer scored on the next at-bat with a Rachel Mundt sacrifice fly to make it a one-run game. However, NWU couldn't add any other runs in the inning. Simpson then added two additional runs in the seventh inning before not allowing a run in the final frame. 

Meyer tossed a complete game with six strikeouts for Nebraska Wesleyan. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Hanna Roth drew three walks in the game for the Prairie Wolves.

Nebraska Wesleyan plays a mid-week doubleheader at Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa on Tuesday, April 27. Game one is set for 4 p.m. with game two to follow.
