Prairie Wolves Cruise Past Norse In Series Finale, Win Series

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 18, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team (10-13, 8-7 A-R-C) defeated Luther College (19-11, 8-8 A-R-C), 8-2, in the series finale to win the series. It is the first time since joining the American Rivers Conference that NWU has won a series or taken a doubleheader from the Norse.

The Prairie Wolves offense put up eight runs for the second time in the three-game series. NWU had seven batters record a hit, highlighted by multiple hits from Taylor Styskal and Valerie Gerlach. Styskal, Gerlach, and Kailey Meyer combined to score four runs with five hits, and six RBIs. The trio launched two home runs and a triple in the win. Bailey Green also added two RBIs in the win, which both came on a fifth inning double.

Meyer overpowered the Luther hitters as she pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and allowed just one earned run on four hits. Meyer did not issue a walk in the 25 batters she faced.

In the three game series against Luther, the Prairie Wolves outscored them 19-9 and held them to just 13 hits. Nebraska Wesleyan has now won back-to-back series and won four of its last six games.
