Women’s Soccer Races Past Kohawks For First Win


LINCOLN, Neb. (March 30, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team (1-1, 1-1 A-R-C) beat Coe (0-2, 0-2 A-R-C), 3-1, at Abel Stadium. It was NWU's first home win since October 23, 2019, due to the COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic. 

The Kohawks struck first in the game with a goal in the 15th minute. But the Prairie Wolves answered back in the 37th minute. Kaeding Rassfeld drilled her first career goal at Nebraska Wesleyan for the equalizer with Morgan Finley assisting the goal.

In the second half, Lauren Keith put the Prairie Wolves ahead with a goal in the 81st minute. Four minutes later, NWU received an insurance goal when Hannah Ghannam found the net on a ball from Megan Cooper and Rassfeld. It was also Ghannam's first goal as a Priaire Wolf. 

Nebraska Wesleyan dominated throughout the entire game, with an 18-6 advantage on shots. NWU also recorded nine shots on goal as Coe was limited to just two. Leslie Borges had one save for the Prairie Wolves.

Nebraska Wesleyan stays at home for a match on Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. against the University of Dubuque.
