Volleyball Comes Up Short In Five-Set Tussle On Senior Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 27, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team (3-5, 3-5 A-R-C) came up short in a five-set tussle with Wartburg (7-2, 7-1 A-R-C) in the final game of the 2021 spring volleyball season.

From the start, NWU looked poised to upset the Knights and end their bid for a sixth consecutive American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) regular-season title. A back and forth first set needed extra points before the Prairie Wolves scored four of the last five points to win 28-26.

After Wartburg won set two 25-19, they put Nebraska Wesleyan on the ropes with a 25-20 win in the third set. However, NWU bounced back to win set four 25-17 behind a 15-2 run and nine consecutive points served by Hannah Domandle

In the fifth, the teams traded points to begin the set but the Knights rattled off six straight points for a 9-3 lead then won the set 15-7. With the win, Wartburg secured its sixth straight A-R-C regular-season championship.
