NWU’s Winning Streak Ended By BVU


LINCOLN, Neb. (December 8, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team fell to Buena Vista, 76-72, in Snyder Arena. The loss to BVU snaps NWU's four-game winning streak.

It was a tale of two halves that saw the Prairie Wolves lead for more than 25 minutes in the game. In the first half, Nebraska Wesleyan shot 51.9 percent from the field and took a nine-point lead into the halftime break. NWU never trailed in the opening half and held the Beavers without a three-pointer as BVU shot 33.3 percent from the field.

But Buena Vista found a spark in the second half as it outscored Nebraska Wesleyan by 13 in the 20 minute period. BVU shot 58.6 percent from the field and was 6-for-14 beyond the arc for the second half. The Prairie Wolves were just 32.4 percent from the field and had seven of their 12 turnovers in the half.

NWU was led by Josh Rogers and Tyler Converse with 15 points apiece. Rogers also grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds. Converse came off the bench to provide momentum, going 5-for-8 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 on three-pointers. Peter Lash added 11 points and eight rebounds with Landon Torneten adding 10 points and three steals.
