Prairie Wolves Sprint Past Panthers


LINCOLN, Neb. (December 18, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team got back to its winning ways with a, 100-64, win over Principia College at Snyder Arena. The Prairie Wolves netted 100 points for the third time this season as they led wire-to-wire in the victory. 

In the first half, Nebraska Wesleyan jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first five minutes then extended the lead to 26 points with six minutes left in the half. NWU went 46.2 percent from the three-point arc and 66.7 percent from the field in the first half.

Principia tried to battle in the second half as it cut the lead down to 61-47 with just over 15 minutes left in the game. However, the Prairie Wolves ended any chance at a comeback by outscoring the Panthers 29-9 over the next 10:23. During that stretch, NWU had eight players score at least one point. 

Peter Lash scored a game-high 23 points; it was the fifth time this season Lash has scored 20 or more points in a game.Landon Torneten added in 16 points with Josh Rogers chipping in 12 points and Carter Glenn adding 10 points. Rogers grabbed a game-high eight rebounds as well. Tyler Unger was credited with seven assists, the most by a Prairie Wolf in a game this season.

As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan made a season-best 26 free-throws and also had a season-high 21 assists. Additionally, NWU was 60.4 percent from the field, its best percentage in a game this season. With the victory, NWU snaps a two-game losing skid as well.

The Prairie Wolves are off until December 29 when they travel west to Newberg, Oregon for a match-up with George Fox University.
