NWU Sweeps Final Two Matches of 2021 Season


PELLA, Iowa (October 30, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team swept its final two matches of the 2021 season. NWU defeated Iowa Wesleyan in the first match then beat Illinois College in the second match.

In the Iowa Wesleyan sweep, the Prairie Wolves had little trouble with the Tigers. Nebraska Wesleyan won the first two sets, 25-16 and took the third set, 25-13. As a team, NWU smashed 39 kills and dropped eight aces. 

The Prairie Wolves cruised past Illinois College with a 25-21 victory in the first set then won the second set, 25-18. IC showed fight in the third set but five straight points served by Addie Thomas provided enough separation for NWU to pull away, 25-22.

Addie Thomas paced the team with 22 kills over the six sets. Sidney Hauptman recorded 16 kills and Aliah Clarke added 15 kills. Erica Hopping had 65 assists and four aces at the service line in the two matches.

Defensively, NWU had three players tally over 20 digs. Kennady Klein led the way with 26 digs as Cassidy Plooster added 22 digs and Erica Hopping chipped in 21 digs. Clarke and Thomas combined for eight total blocks.
