No. 16 Wartburg Puts Blemish On Women’s Soccer Home Finale


LINCOLN, Neb. (October 23, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team fell in its final home game of the 2021 season, 5-1, to No. 16 Wartburg College.

NWU denied the Knights of a shutout in the 85th minute. Morgan Finley put Nebraska Wesleyan on the board with a penalty kick. The goal was Finley's first goal as a Prairie Wolf. Additionally, Finley, a senior defender, scored the goal in her final home game.

A trio of first-half goals put the Knights ahead heading into halftime. WC added two more goals in the second-half before Nebraska Wesleyan's goal. NWU was credited with six shots in the game, two of those off the foot of Megan Cooper. Leslie Borges tallied four saves in net for Nebraska Wesleyan.

For NWU, it was the last home game for nine seniors. Along with Morgan Finley, Leslie Borges, Isabel Dragoo, Liz Frisch, Hannah Holles, Ashley Hyde, Olivia Munroe, Christina Oleartchick, and Liz Wolf all played their last game on the Abel Stadium pitch.
