Men’s Soccer Blanks Wartburg On Senior Day, Clinches Postseason Spot


LINCOLN, Neb. (October 23, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team shut out Wartburg, 2-0, on senior day in Abel Stadium. With the win, NWU clinched its spot in the American Rivers Conference Tournament. 

The Prairie Wolves put the game's first score on the board in the 38th minute. Caleb Vos netted the goal, it was Vos's first goal of the season. Just four minutes later, Jakob Hulquest added an insurance goal. Hulquest footed the goal off of a pass from Jackson McGowan

Nebraska Wesleyan had a slight shot advantage, taking 12 shots compared to 11 by Wartburg. Alex Kohler was credited with three shots for NWU. Zachary Weis tallied six saves in the clean sheet win. 

The Prairie Wolves sent their senior class of James VanBemmelen, Aroque Bryant, Varun Doshi, Brandon Harper, and volunteer Ian Wilshusen out with a win in the home finale at Abel Stadium.
