Football Falls At Buena Vista

STORM LAKE, IOWA (October 16, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan football team fell on the road to Buena Vista, 50-7, in Storm Lake, Iowa. The loss snaps NWU's three-game winning streak over the Beavers.

A score with 1:22 remaining the game showed the Prairie Wolves fight against BVU, despite entering the game without multiple starters due to injuries. Cole Siems scored his first career touchdown on a 10-yard pass from Evan Johnson. The drive covered 50 yards on six plays in under two minutes.

Not only did Sieims record his first score as a Prairie Wolf in the game, Siems had a season-best 43 receiving yards, which was also a team-high in the game. David O'Connell had three receptions for 26 yards, it is the fifth-time this season O'Connell had at least three receptions in a game. BVU held one of the best passing attacks in the American Rivers Conference to just 101 total yards of offense.

Missing its top two tacklers for the game, NWU's defense had a trio of players make 10 stops in the game. Jacob Garnas, Zach Busmente, and TJ Roybal all record double digits tackles. Roybal tallied two tackles-for-a-loss for 13 yards and a sack that pushed the Beavers back seven yards. The two tackles-for-a-loss and sack were season-highs for Roybal.
