Prairie Wolves, Dutch Play To Draw


LINCOLN, Neb. (October 12, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team played Central College to a 1-1 draw at Abel Stadium. 

A minute before halftime, Jacob Caffey put the Prairie Wolves on the board off of a pass from Alex Kohler. The goal for Caffey was the first of the season and the fourth assist of the season by Kohler. The Dutch responded with the equalizer in the 48th minute. The two teams would remain without another goal the rest of the way.

NWU put Central on the defensive the majority of the match. The Prairie Wolves took 30 shots in the match, triple the number of shots taken by the Dutch. In the two overtime periods, Nebraska Wesleyan continued their offensive attack with a 5-0 shot advantage. It was the most shots taken in a match by NWU since September 27, 2019, when it recorded 37 shots in a win over Nebraska Christian.

Kyle Hansen led NWU with four shots on goal on six shot attempts. Three different Prairie Wolves registered three shots on goal and 10 players took at least one shot attempt. Zachary Weis was credited with five saves on six shots faced in the net.
