LINCOLN, Neb. – Simpson College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 8-1 in an American Rivers Conference women's tennis dual that was played on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 7) at the LSF Sports Complex in Lincoln. The match had been rescheduled due to a weather postponement earlier this year.
Simpson improves to 4-2 in American Rivers conference action and 6-3 overall. NWU has now lost all four of their matches, all against A-R-C competition.
Natalie Reynolds and
Carley Rubenking won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles for the lone victory on the day for the Prairie Wolves. Reynolds and Rubenking defeated the Simpson team of Kennedi Wright/Donni Kinghorn.
The Storm won the other two doubles matches winning 8-3 at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, the Storm won all six matches getting the win at No. 1 singles due to retirement as
Brooke Sailer couldn't finish due to injury. Simpson's Anna Wanek led 6-4, 5-4 when the match ended.
Nicole Cerio played the most competitive match of singles play for the Prairie Wolves at the No. 6 spot. Cerio faced Aubrey Ocheltree in a three set match. Ocheltree came away with the 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory.
