DES MOINES, Iowa – Six Nebraska Wesleyan University women's tennis players competed on Saturday (Oct. 17) at the 2020 American Rivers Conference Individual Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.
Brooke Sailer was the top performer for the Prairie Wolves advancing to the semifinals in the A-Singles division. Sailer went 2-2 on the day to place 4
th in the division. Sailer opened the day by winning a three set thriller over Olivia Phillips of Wartburg (2-6, 6-4, 12-10). In the quarterfinals, she defeated Natalia Smith of Luther 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals.
Competing in the semifinals, Sailer went up against Devon Bourget of Luther and fell 6-0, 6-1. Facing Shelby Cook of Luther in the 3
rd place match, Sailer came up short 6-4, 6-0.
Ava Johnson was the other NWU player to play in the singles portion of the tournament competing in C-Singles. Johnson went 0-2 on the day.
Kailey Jay-Kissler and
Natalie Reynolds teamed up to play in A-Doubles finishing 0-2, while
Nicole Cerio and
Carley Rubenking went 0-2 in the B-Doubles division.
NWU will close out their fall season this weekend playing a pair of A-R-C duals at home. They ace Loras College on Saturday and University of Dubuque on Sunday. Both matches are rescheduled from earlier this year.
