Sailer's Big Day Not Enough as Women Fall to Buena Vista

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan picked up two singles wins and one doubles victory but it wasn't enough as Buena Vista University defeated the Prairie Wolves 6-3 in American Rivers Conference women's tennis action on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at the LSF Sports Complex.

NWU gave up two team points having to forfeit victories at the No. 6 singles spot and the No. 3 doubles spot which helped lead to the Beavers victory.  With the loss, the Prairie Wolves drop to 0-6 on the season.

Brooke Sailer had a big day for the Prairie Wolves on the courts.  She teamed up with Kailey Jay-Kissler to post an 8-6 come from behind victory at No. 1 doubles.  Later in the day she easily defeated Rachel Brackney 6-0, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play.

Natalie Reynolds continues her solid play in her first season.  She defeated Alexis McGinnis 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) in a very competitive No. 2 singles match to get her second conference win.

In the other doubles match, the NWU duo of Reynolds/Carley Rubenking came up just short falling 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.  BVU also won three singles matches at the No. 3-5 spots in straight sets.

For BVU, it was a historic win marking their first conference dual victory since 2013.  They had lost 53 straight regular season conference duals dating all the way back to Sept. 14, 2013 when they recorded their last league win.
