Storm Shoot Past Prairie Wolves in Women's Action

LINCOLN, Neb. – Simpson College hit six 3-pointers in the first quarter and got ahead by 22 points after one period on their way to a 103-55 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in American Rivers Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 8) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.
 
The Storm (10-3, 2-2) cooled off from long range the rest of the game, but they continued to build up on the lead getting ahead by as many as 50 points late in the game.
 
NWU (5-7, 2-3) has dropped three straight conference games allowing over 100 points in all three contests.  The Prairie Wolves couldn't get their offense going against the Storm full court pressure defense.
 
As a team, the Prairie Wolves shot 28.6 percent for the game, making only 20-70 shot attempts.  Simpson ended the game at 49.4 percent.
 
Simpson was able to use their size advantage inside to score 52 points in the pain and hold a +19 advantage on the glass.  They also scored 18 fast break points on the full court press.
 
Cassie Chubb was the star for Simpson with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds.  Chubb was 5-8 from 3-point range in the game.  She was one of five Storm players to score in double figures.
 
Drewann Edwards was the only NWU player to reach double figures scoring 11 points with seven rebounds.  Caitlin Navratil was held to only nine points on 3-13 shooting.
 
The Prairie Wolves will try to bounce back on Saturday when they host Luther College at 2 pm in Snyder Arena.
