FARGO, N.D. – Three matches, three shutout victories by the same score of 5-0 is a fantastic way to start the season for the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team. NWU blanked Northwestern (Minn.) 5-0 on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 7) at the Cobber Classic being played in Fargo, N.D.
With the victory, the Prairie Wolves are now 3-0 on the year and have outscored their opponents by a score of 15-0.
Olivia Munro was one of the offensive stars of the day with two goals in the first half as NWU got out ahead 4-0 in the first 45 minutes.
Liz Frisch was the other big performer with a goal and two assists in the victory.
NWU scored in the 6
th minute of the match when
Megan Cooper scored off an assist by
Isabel Dragoo. That was the first of four first half goals from the Prairie Wolves. Munroe scored her first goal in the 22
nd minute off an assist by
Annie Platt. Platt then got into the scoring party with a goal in the 33
rd minute. Munro added her second goal in the 36
th minute to cap the very successful first half.
The Prairie Wolves scored on more goal in the 2
nd half when Frisch scored in the 62
nd minute.
Liz Wolf and
Leslie Borges combined for the shutout in goal as each goalkeeper played a half.
NWU will look to cap their weekend with another win on Sunday against Northland.
