MOORHEAD, Minn. – Nebraska Wesleyan earned their first victory of the season with a 4-0 shutout win over Minnesota-Morris on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 7) on day one of the Cobber Classic in Moorhead, Minn.
Nolan Dillon scored a pair of second half goals to extend the Prairie Wolves 1-0 halftime lead and the match was out of reach in favor of the Prairie Wolves.
Freshman
Royce Austen scored his third goal of the year for the first Prairie Wolves goal in the 21
st minute. That 1-0 score would remain up until the halftime break.
Dillon then opened the second half with his first goal in the 49
th minute of an assist from
Alex Aguilar then scored again in the 83
rd minute from
Luke Monson.
Tyler Sanne capped the NWU scoring with a late goal in the 88
th minute off an assist from
Ben Schulz.
It was a complete domination by the Prairie Wolves on Saturday with 29 shot attempts compared to only five by Minnesota-Morris.
Sam Lesoing posted the shutout in goal with four saves.
NWU is back in action on Sunday with a match against the host school Concordia College (Minn.)
