INDIANOLA, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan dropped a pair of American Rivers Conference women's tennis matches on the road Saturday (Sept. 28). NWU lost 8-1 at Central College, then dropped a 5-4 decision at Simpson College.
Brooke Sailer was the only winner for the Prairie Wolves in the match at Central College. Sailer won 6-2, 6-4 over Karleigh Schilling at No. 1 singles. The Dutch won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
In the doubles matches, Sailer and
Kailey Jay-Kissler fell 8-4 at No. 1 doubles,
Han Le and Kaylyn Harrington lost 8-1 at No. 2 doubles then the closest match was No. 3 doubles where
Shea Swanson and
Samantha Slizoski dropped a 9-8 match.
NWU nearly got the win at Simpson later in the afternoon. The Storm won two of the three doubles matches and the two teams split the six singles matches.
The lone doubles win was at No. 1 where Jay-Kissler and Sailer won 8-4.
Le earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, Swanson won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Harrington won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Prairie Wolves have two more conference matches remaining next Saturday in Storm Lake, Iowa facing Coe College and Buena Vista University.
