LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan scored three second half goals to earn a 3-1 victory over University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a women's soccer matchup between a pair of one-loss teams.
With the victory, NWU moved to 8-1 on the year as UW-River Falls dropped to 7-2.
UW-River Falls scored the first goal of the match in the first half with Mariah Troje getting on the board. The score remained 1-0 at intermission with the Prairie Wolves being kept off the scoreboard.
In the second half, the Prairie Wolves got on a roll.
Annie Platt scored the first goal of the match off an assist by
Jenna DeJonge in the 51
st minute.
The Prairie Wolves took the lead in the 79
th minute on a goal by
Simone Collins. They sealed the victory in the final minute adding a goal by
Suzie McDonald.
Nebraska Wesleyan ended the match with 22 total shot attempts, compared to only eight by UW-River Falls.
NWU is back at home on Sunday to host Johnson & Wales at 1 pm.
