Wolves Take Down Crown in Home Opener

LINCOLN, Neb. – Making their 2019 home debut at Abel Stadium, the Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team treated the home crowd to a scoring explosion with a 9-1 victory over Crown College on Friday night (Sept. 20).

It was a dominating effort by the Prairie Wolves who improve to 4-2-1 overall with the Storm dropping to 1-5.

Crown actually started the match in front scoring a goal in the third minute to take the early 1-0 lead.  The Storm held on to the lead well into the first half before the Prairie Wolves got on a roll.

Nolan Dillon started the goal scoring party in the 19th minute to tie the match at 1-1.  That was the start of a huge offensive performance by Dillon who ended the match with a hat trick scoring three goals.

Logan Lawrence added two goals right before the halftime break to give NWU a 3-1 lead at intermission.  Lawrence joined Dillon and Royce Austen as NWU players that scored multiple goals in the match.

Just over one minute into the second half, Dillon scored his second goal of the match.  Austen then got his first goal in Abel Stadium in the 50th minute off an assist by Hunter Kruse.  Three minutes later the same duo connected again with Austen scoring from Kruse.  Dillon completed his hat trick one minute later as the scoring rout was on.

Jesus Adame scored in the 69th minute and Thomas Distefano completed the Prairie Wolves scoring attack in the 84th minute.

NWU ended the match with 28 total shots compared to only four by the Storm.

The Prairie Wolves now prepare for another home match on Sunday afternoon when they host Cornell College.
