DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the 2019-20 season on Saturday morning (Sept. 14) when they edged University of Dubuque 5-4 in American Rivers Conference action.  Later in the day the Prairie Wolves dropped a 6-3 decision at Loras College splitting a pair of matches in Dubuque, Iowa.
 
In the victory over Dubuque, the Prairie Wolves had to overcome having only five players giving the Spartans forfeit victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
 
NWU and Dubuque split the two doubles matches.  
Han Le and 
Shea Swanson won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles to get the day started.  
Brooke Sailer and 
Kailey Jay-Kissler fell 8-6 at No. 1 doubles in a very close match.
 
The Prairie Wolves won four of the five singles matches that took place.  
Brooke Sailer continued her solid start to the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.  
Han Le swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and 
Kailey Jay-Kissler won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.  The final victory was at No. 5 singles with 
Samantha Slizoski winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
 
Against Loras, the Prairie Wolves were unable to overcome the two forfeit victories in the 6-3 loss. 
 
Sailer and Jay-Kissler won 8-7 at No. 1 doubles, while Swanson and Slizoski lost 7-8 at No. 2 doubles in the very competitive doubles matches.
 
NWu picked up two singles victories over the Duhawks.  Sailer won 6-1, 6-5 at No. 1 and Le was a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 winner in her No. 2 singles match.
