CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan had two players named All-Conference when the 2019 American Rivers Conference Softball All-Conference team was announced on May 8 by the league office.
Kailey Meyer was a 1
st-Team selection for a second straight season and
Morgan Shipley received 2
nd-Team for her second All-Conference recognition.
Meyer (So., P/DH, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Central HS) was named 1
st-Team All-Conference as a Utility player for the second consecutive year. Overall, Meyer was 12-9 on the mound as the team's No. 1 pitcher. She tied the school record making 30 appearances on the mound and her 12 wins tied for 10
th all-time. Meyer struck out 98 batters in 132 innings of work finishing with a 2.55 ERA.
At the plate, Meyer batted .313 with a team-high 3 home runs and 16 RBI. She has 21 hits on the year with eight of those as extra base hits. She now ranks 7
th in NWU history in pitching victories after only two seasons and is 3
rd in shutouts.
Shipley (Jr., OF, Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Pius X HS) is a 2
nd-Team All-Conference selection as an outfielder after earning honorable mention honors in 2018. Shipley led the team in hitting ending the year at .419 to rank 6
th in the American Rivers Conference. Her 52 hits ranked 5
th in the league and are the 7
th best single season total in school history. In three seasons Shipley has a .381 batting average which ranks 4
th in school history.
Haley Jones from Coe College was the A-R-C Player of the Year for a second straight season. Mariah Fritz of Central, Alyssa Olson of Coe and Maddie Rog from Wartburg were all Co-Pitchers of the Year. The staff of Central College was named the Coaching Staff of the Year.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2019 season with a 22-14 overall record and a 7-9 mark in the American Rivers Conference to end the year tied for 6
th in the A-R-C standings.
