LINCOLN, Neb. – Concordia University took both tennis matches over Nebraska Wesleyan University on Thursday (Mar. 21) at Woods Park with the Bulldog women winning 7-2 and the men getting a 9-0 victory.
In the women's match, Nebraska Wesleyan was able to get one victory in doubles action.
Madi Hinshaw and
Jordyn Fossell defeated Ansley Gates and Katelinn Wurm 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. NWU fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles and dropped a close 8-6 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Han Le was the lone singles winner for NWU as she posted a 7-5, 6-0 straight sets win over Wurm at No. 2 singles. The Bulldogs won all five of the other singles matches in straight sets.
The Nebraska Wesleyan women fall to 2-13 overall on the season.
Concordia controlled the men's match winning all three doubles matches the six singles matches in straight sets. They won doubles in scores of 8-5, 8-4, 8-2. The closest singles match came at No. 3 singles between
Jared Scherling and Jeremy Berryman of Concordia. Berryman pulled away for a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
Nebraska Wesleyan now has a 2-8 overall record and they are set to open conference play on March 29 at Central College.
