LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team played their first duals of the season on Saturday hosting both Luther College and Buena Vista University in American Rivers Conference matches at Knight Fieldhouse. NWU fell to Luther 9-0, then earned a 7-2 victory over Buena Vista in the second match.
In the victory over Buena Vista, the Prairie Wolves won two of the three doubles matches then took five of the six singles matches.
Gabriel Sellmer and
Spencer Anderson won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, then
Jared Scherling and
Nathan Seaton won 8-4 at the No. 2 doubles spot. BVU won the No. 3 doubles match 8-4.
Anderson was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Danny Kramer at No. 2 singles. Scherling won 6-1, 6-0 over Aaron Pluym at No. 3 singles and
Cole Lohoefener was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 6 singles.
Three singles matches went three sets with NWU winning two of them. Seaton won 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 over Jake Thompson at No. 4 singles and
Vinh Le was a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 winner at No. 5 singles.
