Three NWU Players Earn All-Conference in Volleyball

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Three players on the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team were named to the 2019 American Rivers Conference Volleyball All-Conference team that was announced Thursday (Nov. 7). Hannah Bellinghausen and Whitney Jensen were named 1st-Team All-American Rivers, with Cora Svoboda earning honorable mention recognition.   All three of them were first time All-Conference recipients.   
 
Bellinghausen (Lincoln, Neb./Norris HS) earns her first All-Conference honor with her 1st-Team All-Conference selection as an outside hitter/right side.  She led the Prairie Wolves and ranked fourth in the league in kills averaging 3.20 per set.  She ranks 10th in the conference in overall hitting percentage at .234.  In conference matches, Bellinghausen is 6th in kills at 3.22 per set.  She has set career highs in every statistical category this year and now has 893 kills for her career.
 
Jensen (Grand Island, Neb./Northwest HS) becomes an All-Conference selection at middle hitter/right side in her freshman season.  She averaged 2.11 kills per set ranking 8th in the conference in hitting percentage at .237 for the season.  Earlier this year she was named the A-R-C Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.  Jensen was selected to All-Tournament teams at three different tournaments this season.      
 
Svoboda (Ord, Neb./Ord HS) also earns her first All-Conference honor picking up honorable mention honors as a middle hitter.  Svoboda ranks 3rd in the American Rivers Conference in total blocks at 0.86 per set and is 2nd in the conference in hitting percentage at .285 to lead the Prairie Wolves.  She has played every set of every match over the past three seasons.
 
Katie Foster from Wartburg College was the American Rivers MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.  Loras coach Jenna Ness was named the A-R-C Coach of the Year.
 
NWU is currently on a 10-match winning streak and is playing in the American Rivers Tournament semifinals tonight at top-seeded Wartburg College.  The Prairie Wolves are 20-7 overall, their highest win total since 2014 when they qualified for the NCAA III Tournament.
