Jensen Earns Conference Offensive Volleyball Player of Week Honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Nebraska Wesleyan freshman volleyball player Whitney Jensen has been named the American Rivers Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week in the week ending Oct. 27, 2019.

Jensen (Grand Island, Neb.) helped the Prairie Wolves go 2-0 with a pair of American Rivers Conference road victories last week to help solidify their spot in the A-R-C Postseason Tournament.  She posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs in the win over Luther College on Saturday (Oct. 26) and had nine kills with 11 digs in the 3-1 win at Coe College on Oct. 25.

She had a team-best hitting percentage of .404 with 22 kills and only three errors in the two matches.  Besides the 22 total kills, Jensen also added four service aces.

Jensen becomes the first NWU volleyball player to earn conference offensive player of the week honors since Kierra Harder earned the recognition on Sept. 3, 2017.

Nebraska Wesleyan has won six straight matches to improve to 16-7 overall and 4-3 in league play to sit in a tie for 3rd in the A-R-C standings.  The Prairie Wolves close out the 2019 conference regular season on Wednesday (Oct. 30) with a home match against Simpson College.  They finish the regular season at the Pumpkin Bash on Saturday in Rock Island, Ill.
