DECORAH, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer scoring woes continued on Saturday when they faced a nationally-ranked opponent dropping a 6-0 decision to 14
th-ranked Luther College in American Rivers Conference action in Decorah, Iowa.
NWU has now gone six straight matches without a goal, including being shutout in all five American Rivers Conference matches. The Prairie Wolves are 6-6-3 overall and 0-4-1 in conference play to sit 8
th in the league standings on the outside looking in at a spot in the conference tournament.
Luther College moves to 11-3-1 overall and 4-2 in the A-R-C with the 6-0 shutout victory.
The Norse scored two goals in the 1
st half, then added four goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half to break open the match.
Playing with several players out with injury, the Prairie Wolves managed only eight total shots and one shot on goal. Luther had 23 total shots with 17 shots on goal. The Norse played 30 total players in the match, twice as many as NWU used.
Six different players scored for Luther in the match with their balanced offensive attack.
NWU is back home on Wednesday night to try and get things back on track when they host Buena Vista University, the only other team in the conference without a victory.
