LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan had all four honorees when the American Rivers Conference announced the weekly Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards. On the women's side,
Hanna Hegemann was named the American Rivers Conference Track Athlete of the Week and
Dayton Dolincheck was the Field Athlete of the Week. For the men,
Trent Koehler was selected as the field athlete of the week and
James Radziunas was the track athlete of the week.
Hegemann (Topeka, Kan.) won the 5,000 meter race at the UNL Graduate Classic at the Devaney Center last weekend. Hegemann ran a time of 17:58.56 to win the race. Her time is the 14
th fastest in NCAA III this year.
Dolincheck (Bellevue, Neb.) threw the shot put 44-10.25 at the Ward Haylett Invite that was hosted by Doane University on Saturday. She placed 5
th in the event, but her mark is already the 5
th best distance in NCAA III on the year. Dolincheck also competed in the weight throw going 47-3 which is the 8
th best throw in NWU school history.
Koelher (York, Neb.) is the men's field athlete of the week after he won the men's long jump at the Haylett Invitational on Saturday. Koehler leaped a distance of 22-10 to win the event and sit 12
th in the country early on this season.
In his first collegiate meet, Radziunas (Bellevue, Neb.) won his heat in preliminaries of the 60 hurdles at the Graduate Classic. He came back to run a time of 8.51 in the semifinals to miss out on qualifying for finals by one spot. Overall his time was 9
th out of 25 runners, finishing behind seven Big 10 runners, an junior college runner and an unattached athlete.
The Nebraska Wesleyan indoor track & field teams are back in action this Saturday (Jan. 19) at the Polar Dog Invitational hosted by Concordia University.
