St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Nebraska Wesleyan scored five unanswered goals as they improved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-1 win on the road at Crown College on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 8) in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.
Crown scored the first goal of the match in the 15
th minute, but the Prairie Wolves scored three goals in the first half and two more in the second to roll to the 5-1 victory.
Logan Lawrence got the scoring started in the 28
th minute on a penalty kick. It was the first of two goals on the day for Lawrence.
Tanner Wood put the Prairie Wolves ahead with his goal in the 36
th minute off an assist by
Grant Leber.
Alex Day scored in the 42
nd minute right before halftime to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 3-1 lead at the break.
Lawrence scored his second goal on the day in the 81
st minute making the score 4-1. The final goal for NWU came in the 86
th minute as
Jake Kennedy scored off an assist from Lawrence.
NWU dominated the stat sheet as well finishing with 31 total shots, compared to only eight for Crown. Just 10 of the Prairie Wolves shots were on goal.
Jesus Adame led the way with a team-high six shot attempts.
Samuel Lesoing got the start in goal and earned the victory with four saves over 90 minutes.
