LINCOLN, Neb. – Coming off a disappointing loss on Saturday night, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team bounced back in a big way on Monday night (Sept. 24) with a 2-0 shutout victory over Briar Cliff University at Abel Stadium.
It marks the second shutout win of the season for the Prairie Wolves as them improve to 6-3 overall. Former GPAC foe Briar Cliff falls to 4-4-1 on the year with the loss.
NWU picked up one goal in each half to earn the victory and already surpass their win total from one year ago.
Kaitlyn Sullivan got the scoring started in the 33
rd minute as she scored on a through ball off an assist from
Christina Oleartchick. The lead would remain 1-0 at intermission.
In the 79
th minute the Prairie Wolves were able to add an insurance goal as
Hannah Rhodes scored her fourth goal of the season off a corner kick from
Raissa Souza. Those two goals would be all the Prairie Wolves would need to earn the victory.
Sarah Scholl posted the shutout in goal for Nebraska Wesleyan recording two saves during the match.
The Prairie Wolves will return to American Rivers Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face Loras College, the top team in the league standings.
