LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team opened Iowa Conference play with a 9-0 loss to Loras College on Saturday afternoon (March. 17) at the Woods Tennis Complex.
Loras improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in IIAC play, while the Prairie Wolves drop to 1-10 and 0-1 in IIAC action.
The three doubles matches were competitive, including the No. 3 match that went to a tiebreaker. Kevin Murphy and Ryan Scheidt edged out
Jared Scherling and
Caleb Thiessen 9-8 (9-7) at No. 3 doubles. Loras won the other two matches in scores of 8-4.
Loras College won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The lone singles match that went three sets was at No. 5 singles.
Jared Scherling took Sean Baldwin to three sets, but came just short falling 3-6, 6-2, 10-7.
