LINCOLN, Neb. – In their final home game for the month of December, the No. 1 ranked Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team rolled to a 40-point 103-63 victory over Colorado College on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 8) at Snyder Arena.
For the Prairie Wolves, they improve to 9-0 overall and extend their nation's leading winning streak to 22 games. Colorado College drops to 4-5 on the season.
NWU led the entire way, getting up 65-34 at halftime as the Prairie Wolves shot 64.1 percent from the field in the first half. Besides their hot shooting, NWU slapped on a full court pressure defense and forced the Tigers into 16 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. NWU took advantage scoring 27 points off those turnovers.
In the second half, the Prairie Wolves cooled off shooting from the field making just 41.2 percent as reserved played the majority of the final minutes.
All five Prairie Wolves starters scored in double figures on Saturday afternoon. NWU ended the game making 15-36 from 3-point range and 53.4 percent overall. They also dished out 26 assists on the 39 made field goals, while scoring 34 fast break points.
Nate Schimonitz led the way with 19 points and seven assists.
Cooper Cook was 6-10 from 3-point range to score 18 points with eight steals, four rebounds three assists and two blocks.
Ryan Garvers scored 12 points with five assists and six rebounds,
Nate Bahe went 4-5 from the floor for 11 points and
Clay Reimers scored 10 points with a team-high nine rebounds.
Colorado College was led by CooXooEii Black with 17 points.
Nebraska Wesleyan is next in action on December 16 when they travel to Oregon for a pair of games starting with George Fox University.
