Navratil's Season-High Leads NWU Women Past Westminster

FULTON, Mo. – Nebraska Wesleyan outscored Westminster by six points in the 4th quarter and erased a 8-point deficit to earn a 86-81 victory on Monday afternoon at the Historic Gym in Fulton, Mo.  With the victory, the NWU women have now won four straight games to improve to 5-3 overall.
 
Junior guard Caitlin Navratil scored a season-high 35 points, including eight points in the final three minutes to key the NWU rally.
 
Trailing by one point with under two minutes to play, Navratil hit a fast break layup and was fouled to complete the old fashioned 3-point play to take a 81-79 victory.  On the next offensive possession, Navratil nailed a 3-pointer with 1:11 to play giving the Prairie Wolves a five point advantage. 

Westmintster made two free throws with 13 seconds left to cut the lead down to three points.  The Bluejays fouled Navratil with four seconds left and she made both free throws to seal the victory.
 
NWU led by three points after one quarter and maintained the three point lead at halftime.  Westminster outscored the Prairie Wolves 20-16 in the 3rd quarter to take the one point lead into the final quarter.  In the fourth quarter, the Prairie Wolves shot 52.9 percent from the floor, going 6-7 at the free throw line.
 
The Bluejays only shot 35.6 percent from the field making 7-31 from 3-point land.  Westminster did make 22-26 at the free throw line to outscore NWU by seven points at the charity stripe.  NWU also forced the Bluejays into 21 turnovers.
 
Navratil had a huge overall game for the Prairie Wolves scoring her season-high 35 points.  She was 12-23 from the floor, making 3-8 on 3-pointers and 8-9 at the free throw line.  Navratil pulled down eight rebounds, dished out six assists and made five steals.
 
Klaire Phillips and Mikenzie Delgado also scored in double figures for the Prairie Wolves.  Phillips had 12 points with four assists and Delgado made 3-6 from 3-point land for 11 points.
