Soccer Snaps Losing Streak on Senior Day

LINCOLN, Neb. – On a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon (Oct. 7), the Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team was able to snap their five-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Presentation College on Senior Day at Abel Stadium.

The Prairie Wolves improve their overall record to 5-7 on the season, while Presentation falls to 0-13.

Jake Kennedy was the offensive star for Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon as he scored a pair of goals in the match.  He now leads the team with five goals on the season.

It was Jaoa Pedro Miranda that got the scoring started early for the Prairie Wolves.  Miranda scored from the left side of the box in the 8th minutes to put NWU ahead 1-0.  That would be the score at intermission as NWU went into the locker room with a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, Kennedy took over scoring his two goals.  His first goal came in the 51st minute off an assist from Miranda on a cross.  His second goal of the match was in the 73rd minute this time on an unassisted goal.

That was all Nebraska Wesleyan would need as goalkeeper Will Philips posted a shutout in goal.  NWU was dominant in the match with 24 shot attempts compared to just nine for Presentation.

NWU returns to conference action on Tuesday night (Oct. 9) when they host Coe College at Abel Stadium looking for their first American Rivers Conference victory.
