DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team remained winless in conference play as the Prairie Wolves dropped their second straight match in Dubuque, Iowa on consecutive days, this time to the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 6).
Dubuque won 3-0 in scores of 25-12, 25-20, 25-22 to improve to 12-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play. NWU falls to 5-11 and 0-4 in American Rivers conference action.
NWU struggled in the opening set, hitting -.045 with six kills and eight errors. Things weren't much better in the second set as they had seven kills and seven errors. The Prairie Wolves improved in the final set with 15 kills.
In the third set, NWU led 22-21 and looked like they were in position to win their first set of the day. The Spartans then scored the final four points of the match to earn the sweep.
Hannah Bellinghausen and
Kierra Harder led the way for the Prairie Wolves with seven kills apiece.
Cassidy Plooster dished out 24 assists, while
Lizzie Saale had 16 digs to lead the team.
Dubuque was led by Rylee Andreson who had 11 kills and three solo blocks.
NWU is next in action on Oct. 11 with a trip to Simpson College.
