NWU Men's Soccer Earns No. 6 Seed in American Rivers Tournament

LINCOLN – Nebraska Wesleyan received the No. 6 seed for the 2018 American Rivers Conference Postseason Men's Soccer Tournament when the pairings were announced by the league office.
 
The Prairie Wolves will face the No. 3 seed Wartburg College on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 27) in Waverly, Iowa.  Match start time is set for 3 pm.  The winner of the NWU-Wartburg match will advance to the Tournament Semifinals and face the No. 2 seed Luther College on Wednesday (Oct. 31) in Decorah, Iowa.
 
This is the second straight season the Prairie Wolves men's soccer team has qualified for the conference postseason tournament.  Last year, NWU was the No. 4 seed and advanced to the tournament semifinals.
 
NWU finished the 2018 season with a 8-8 overall record and a 3-5 mark in conference play to earn the No. 6 seed in the six-team postseason tournament.
 
Wartburg is 9-6-2 overall and went 5-2-1 in conference play to earn the No. 3 seed.  The Knights tied for third in the final standings but won the tiebreaker with Simpson.
 
In the first meeting between the two teams, Wartburg came away with a 5-4 victory over NWU in a match that went to double overtime on Oct. 6 in Waverly. 
 
The winner of the American Rivers Men's Soccer Postseason Tournament receives an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA III National Tournament.
