PELLA, Iowa – In the final conference match of the season, the Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team went on the road and defeated Central College 3-1 on Tuesday night (Oct. 23) in Pella, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves won the four set match in scores of 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-19.
It was the second league win of the year for the Prairie Wolves as they finish the American Rivers Conference schedule with a 2-6 record and now sit at 8-14 overall with three matches remaining. Central drops to 11-17 and 1-7 in A-R-C play as both teams had been eliminated from postseason contention prior to the match.
The first set had five lead changes and was tied eight times before NWU finally pulled away. The Prairie Wolves outscored the Dutch 10-4 to end the set. Set two was controlled by Central early as they got ahead 15-9. NWU pulled within four points at 22-18 but it was too late as Central won 25-20.
Set three was the most competitive with seven lead changes and 10 ties. The final tie was at 21-21 when NWU took over. Kills from

Cora Svoboda sealed the victory with a kill.
NWU climbed out to an early lead in the fourth set and they were able to maintain that advantage.
Karrie Sestak closed out the match with a service ace.
Kierra Harder had another double-double with 15 kills and 16 digs to lead the Prairie Wolves attack.
Hannah Bellinghausen also reached double figures with 12 kills.
Anna Gottsch dished out 29 assists with eight assists and six kills.
Lizzie Saale led the team with 16 digs.
Krissa Larson had 15 kills to lead the Central attack.
Nebraska Wesleyan will close out the 2018 regular season this weekend at the Illinois Wesleyan Invite.
