Norse Shoot Past Prairie Wolves on the Road

DECORAH, Iowa – Luther College shot 55.4 percent from the field and outscored Nebraska Wesleyan University by 20 points in the second half as the Norse rolled past the Prairie Wolves 100-68 in Iowa Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night in Decorah, Iowa.
 
NWU allowed a team to score over 100 points for the second time this season and fell to 12-7 overall and 3-7 in IIAC play with the road loss.  Luther completed the season sweep over the Prairie Wolves.
 
The Norse dominated the paint against the Prairie Wolves as they outrebounded NWU by 18 and outscored the Prairie Wolves 42-18 inside.  Luther missed just 15 two-point shots the entire game.
 
Meanwhile, NWU shot only 36.9 percent as a team and committed a total of 21 turnovers.
 
Luther led by five points at the end of the first quarter 28-23, but NWU came out in the second quarter and tied the game right away.  The Norse would outscore the Prairie Wolves by six points in the second quarter to hold a 55-43 lead at the break.
 
The Norse started the third quarter on a 16-3 run to get up by 25 points and they would cruise the rest of the way.
 
Five players scored in double figures for Luther College, with two players topping 20 points.  Claire Marburger had another monster game against the Prairie Wolves scoring 24 points on 10-14 shooting with seven rebounds.  Laura Hamilton was 4-5 from 3-point range to score 20 points with eight rebounds.
 
Once again it was Caitlin Navratil that led the way for NWU scoring 21 points.  She finished the game 8-15 from the field and 3-5 on 3-point attempts as one of only two players to reach double figures.  Macy Gustafson scored 11 points.  No other NWU player had more than six points.
 
NWU will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Simpson College.
