Men's Soccer Caps Homecoming With 3-1 Win Over Loras

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team capped of the Homecoming weekend celebration on campus with an impressive 3-1 victory over Loras College late Saturday night (Sept. 30) at Abel Stadium.
 
NWU picks up their first IIAC victory to even their conference record at 1-1 and move to 6-4-1 overall with the win over the perennial proud soccer program Loras College.  The Duhawks fall to 4-5 and 0-2 in IIAC play.
 
Jake Kennedy was the story of the match for the Prairie Wolves as he scored two goals and had the assist on the other goal giving NWU the much needed home victory.  Kennedy got the scoring started right before halftime off an assist from Joao Pedro Miranda.  The goal came with just over 1:30 left before break.
 
Kennedy struck again early in the second half, this time on an assist from Brady Blazek. His second goal came in the 52nd minute of the match.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan extended their lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute as Blazek scored a goal of his own off the Kennedy assist.
 
Loras scored their only goal of the match in the 76th minute on a penalty kick from Javi Simon.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan attempted only five shots on goal in the match, scoring on three of those goals.  Loras had 16 total shot attempts, with four on goal.  Jack Nespor had three saves as the Prairie Wolves goalkeeper.
 
The Prairie Wolves will next be in action on Wednesday night taking on IIAC leader and undefeated Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
