Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

NWU-Waldorf Soccer Match Ends in Draw Due to Weather

LINCOLN, Neb. – Weather was the only winner in the Nebraska Wesleyan-Waldorf men's soccer match on Sunday night as the match was called late in the second half in a 0-0 tie due to lightning.  Since the match went the required 70 minutes, it is considered an official match and both teams are credited with the tie on the overall record.

The match got off to a late start as the prior women's match had a delayed start due to lightning in the area.  The women completed their match, but the men didn't get the full 90 minutes before the weather returned.

Neither team was able to find the open net and convert on any scoring opportunities.  In the first half, Waldorf did have four shots on goal but NWU goalkeeper Jack Nespor kept rejecting them with saves.  The Prairie Wolves finished with 10 total shots, including four shots on goal in the second half, but Waldorf goalkeeper Mario Juarez had four saves.

Playing the second match in two days, the Prairie Wolves settled for the draw to give them a 5-4-1 overall record on the season.  Waldorf moves to 5-5-1 overall.

NWU returns to conference play on Homecoming Saturday (Sept. 30) when they host Loras College at 7:00 pm at Abel Stadium.
