LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team rolled to a 4-0 shutout victory over Cornell College on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 17) to earn their second win of the season.
NWU dominated the entire match with 26 total shots, compared only two for the Rams. The Prairie Wolves scored three goals in the first half, then added another goal in the second half in the shutout win.
Raissa Souza got the scoring started for the Prairie Wolves as she scored in the 15
th minute to put NWU up one. Souza's goal came off an assist from
Laurel Heskett.
NWU scored two goals in the five minutes right before halftime.
Carah Criner scored first at the 40:14 mark of the match, then
Annie Platt added a goal less than two minutes later. The two goals gave the Prairie Wolves a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
In the second half,
Natalie Graves completed the scoring on the day as she scored her second goal of the season in the 79
th minute of the match.
With the victory, the Prairie Wolves improve to 2-4-1 overall. Cornell remains winless on the year falling to 0-7-0 overall.
The Prairie Wolves now prepare for their Iowa Conference opener next Saturday at Luther College.
