Second Straight Shutout for NWU Men's Soccer

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer team posted their second straight shutout victory as the Prairie Wolves defeated Grinnell College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in a match that was played at Seacrest Field.

Alex Day scored in the 14th minute to put the Prairie Wolves ahead 1-0 and that would be the only goal needed in the victory as the NWU defense kept the Pioneers out of the goal.

Nebraska Wesleyan improved to 4-3 overall on the season, while Grinnell falls to 1-5-1.

Grinnell finished the match with eight total shots, including three shots on goal while NWU had seven shots with two shots on goal.

Day connected on his only shot attempt to give the Prairie Wolves the game-winner.  Brady Blazek had the assist on the GW goal.

Senior Jack Nespor posted the shutout as the NWU goalkeeper with three saves in 90 minutes.

The Prairie Wolves don't have a lot of time to celebrate as they will be right back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Cornell College at Abel Stadium.  The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
