LINCOLN – Nebraska Wesleyan received the No. 4 seed for the 2017 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Postseason Men's Soccer Tournament when the pairings were announced late Tuesday night.
The Prairie Wolves will host the No. 5 seed University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 28) at Abel Stadium. Match start time is set for 2 pm. The winner of the NWU-Dubuque match will advance to the IIAC Semifinals and face the No. 1 seed Luther College on Wednesday (Nov. 1) in Decorah, Iowa.
Saturday is the first ever IIAC Tournament appearance for the NWU men's soccer team and the first time they have hosted a home conference tournament match since 1997 when they hosted a NIAC Conference Semifinal match.
NWU, picked to finish 7
th in the IIAC preseason poll, finished the 2017 season with a 10-6-1 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play to earn the No. 4 seed in the six-team postseason tournament.
University of Dubuque is 8-5-3 overall and went 4-2-2 in IIAC play to earn the No. 5 seed. Dubuque defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 3-0, on October 18 in a match that was played in Dubuque, Iowa.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished 7-0-1 in matches played at Abel Stadium this season, the only team in the IIAC that had an undefeated home mark.
The winner of the IIAC Men's Soccer Postseason Tournament receives an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA III National Tournament.
