LINCOLN, Neb. – Alex Day scored a pair of goals to lift Nebraska Wesleyan to their third straight conference victory with a 2-1 win over Central College in men's soccer action on Saturday night (Oct. 14) at Abel Stadium.

Nebraska Wesleyan is now 9-5-1 overall and 4-2 in Iowa Conference play to sit alone in third place in the IIAC standings with two matches remaining.  NWU has 12 total points which is tied for the IIAC lead, along with Simpson and Luther, the two teams that have defeated the Prairie Wolves.  Central drops to 9-4 and 2-3 in IIAC action.

Day got the scoring started in the 29th minute with a goal off an assist from Jacob Dougherty.  The 1-0 advantage for the Prairie Wolves would remain the rest of the half as the two teams went to intermission with NWU leading by one goal.

Right away in the second half Day struck again, this time off assists from Ben Shulz and Brady Blazek.  Day's fourth goal of the season put NWU ahead by two goals in the 46th minute of the match.

Central finally got on the board in the 79th minute with Logan Serbousek scoring to cut the Prairie Wolves lead in half.

The NWU defense stood strong the rest of the way and prevented the Dutch from tying it up.  Central attempted 12 total shots with six on goal, but finished with just one goal.  Jack Nespor had five saves to record the victory as the Prairie Wolves goalkeeper.
