OT Victory For NWU Men at Waldorf

FOREST CITY, Iowa – Aaron Proulx scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift Nebraska Wesleyan to a 3-2 victory over Waldorf University on Sunday in Forest City, Iowa.  It was the first win of the season for the Prairie Wolves as they finished the opening weekend with a 1-0-1 record.

Just like the season opening match, the Prairie Wolves came out firing and took control of the match early.  Will Weber scored his first goal of the year in the 13th minute off an assist by Brady Blazek to give NWU the 1-0 lead.

The lead was extended to 2-0 in the 19th minute as this time it was Blazek who got in the action and scored a goal of his own.  The goal came after assists from Jake Kennedy and Alex Day.  That 2-0 lead would be the score after the first 45 minutes of play.

Waldorf (2-2) then made their run in the second half.  Jean Bonnin scored in the 70th minute to cut the Prairie Wolves lead down to one goal.  Less than five minutes later, Waldorf tied the match on a goal by Cristian Alvarez.

Neither team could break the tie in the final 15 minutes of action as the match went into overtime.

With less than three minutes remaining in the first overtime, Proulx scored a goal off a rebound to give the Prairie Wolves the win.
